Christmas is coming.......

Wow! 2008 has all but disappeared! Good riddance, I say. I wipe the dust of 2008 off my feet and look forward to 2009. God has been a constant help in time of need and I do rejoice in His amazing love that is absolutely unrelenting to pour out His grace on our world....including me.

2 more days and Christmas is here. We are excited around the Carder home. Especially our two girls....Elena, 4 and Keely 2. What a blessed time to be able to love on these little ones. We got the Nativity scene in the front lawn with lights on the house. The home inside is filled with Christmas and we enjoy those Christmas movies.....The Santa Clause, Home Alone (Elena's favorite....she loves the scene with the spider on the guy's face), and my favorite....It's a Wonderful Life.

I hope you have two or more special reasons to celebrate this Christmas.....but remembering to keep the main reason....the main reason, which is God's special gift to us...the Lord Jesus! Happy Birthday Jesus.

Chris

Home for the Holidays

Headed to Georgia this week to visit family and friends. Looking forward to getting back to the old neighborhoods and familiar places from my past. My mom is an amazing cook and I have already put in my request for her awesome Lentil Soup. About anything she makes creates a smile in my tummy, so I am so looking forward to Thanksgiving meal with the family. Turkey, dressing, etc. All the trimmings. Probably watch some NFL football and hang up mom's Christmas lights.

I hope to visit with a few friends that I have missed for a while.

Pat Terry has been an inspiration most of my life. He is an amazing songwriter and will be releasing a new project very soon. Check him out and get Pat's project when it hits the shelves! I hope to see him while I am down in Smyrna, Georgia....my home town and where Pat still lives.

Home from Tombstone, Arizona!

Had a great time in Tombstone, AZ! Lots of gunfights, cowboys, cowgirls and awesome weather. Yep, it's republican presidential nominee John McCain's home state and it was filled with plenty of sunshine. Here are some photos of the trip.

God help us

Here is a clip of the interview Rick Warren, Lead Pastor at Saddleback Church, held with Senators Obama and McCain. We vote in just a few weeks. The economy has all but collapsed even though there is a 'bailout' in process. The war continues in Iraq and Afghanistan. People have been brain-washed by the liberal media that the only real change is to vote Obama into the White House. But I fear we have continued to focus on the above issues and forgotten the unborn. Hear where the candidates stand in this clip.

I hope we remember there have been over 40 million lives destroyed before they ever breathed their first breath. The womb is the most dangerous place to live in the world today. God help us.

New video: Mile of Sunshine Boulevard

I made this video for a church service at Forest Park Community Church using another song. Later I switched the song out for Mile of Sunshine Boulevard from my Trust CD (2006). The ideas and creativeness came from a gifted lady named Tatum Hart. It is a song of the joy of living the Christian life.

Mile of Sunshine Boulevard
Travelling down the Mile of Sunshine Boulevard
Seeing things I never dreamed I see
Comin’ round a bend, I lean into the wind,
Finding new life with every breath I breathe.

Never believed it could get any better than this,
But this is really only a glimpse
When the road is done and I’m finally home.
Well I will shout and I will sing
I will dance to the King of Kings
And I will rejoice to be travelling down
The Mile of Sunshine Boulevard.

Ya better watch on the Mile of Sunshine Boulevard,
There are those who want to take you out.
Just keep lookin’ straight ahead,
You will never be misled,
Keep lovin’ the Lord and the road He takes you down.

Stormy Financial Season

With all the events of this week, it's hard not to lose faith in our capitalistic country. And therein may be the problem......putting faith in capitalism and not The Creator.
Institutions, i.e. Lehman and AIG, are made up of 'fallen' men. We are all fallen and greed is always in our midst. Save the hand of God on a person's life that person will inevitably choose from a selfish heart. And in this case, "How much money is enough?"....just a little bit more.

Bill O'Reilly reminds us of how this greed can corrupt. He writes:

"Once again the federal government has left Americans in a precarious state as a terrible storm is passing through the U.S. economy. Like Hurricane Katrina, some folks thought the government could keep them from harm, but, as in New Orleans, things have gotten out of control quickly as bad housing loans have shredded the economy.

Christopher Cox, the head of the Securities and Exchange Commission, knew for perhaps a year that some large financial and insurance companies were buying risky housing loans, hoping to make a quick buck on consumers paying mortgage interest. But instead of issuing strict warnings against such irresponsible business moves, Cox sat in his Washington office and fiddled.

Unlike Cox, most investors in companies like AIG and Merrill Lynch did not know that bad loans were becoming part of their portfolios;"... (read more)

McCain unites the RNC

I have been pretty excited about John McCain's choice of Sarah Palin, Govenor of Alaska, as his VP pick. She has been a uniting factor for the Republican base in our country. She gave an awesome speech on Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention. Then the next night Senator McCain gave his acceptance speech. The end of his speech, which was much more exciting than what proceeded, was quite moving. McCain showed the lion's heart that he has and encouraged the people of America to stand up and do what is right.....fight for our children's future, Fight for justice and equality for all, fight for what is right for our counrty. Here is the end of his acceptance speech.

Mullet Bay on St. Simons Island, GA

I have some great friends who live off the coast of Southern Georgia on Saint Simons Island. It is a really beautiful area and there are some great restuarants around. My favorite since I have been going down there is Mullet Bay. Right in the 'down town' area of St. Simons. Great food, great service, friendly servers and a completely beautiful place/area. If you are down that way, check it out. It is only an hour from Savannah or Jacksonville.

For more information go to their website: http://www.mulletbayrestaurant.com/

This is me on the North end of the island this past July 4th weekend. It was a great time....but I can not wait to get back there. Clicking the photo will take you to Indieheaven.com and you can check out my music and videos!

How do you move?

How do you move? When someone has injured you in some way....how do you react? We have the most amazing example in our Lord Jesus.....who always moved in 'forgiveness'...even crying out to the Father while dying on the cross, "forgive them for they know not what they are doing."

It is the tougher road to forgive. We can always take the easier, more traveled road of revenge. That seems satisfying to us...and we feel like we have control of our lives. Yet in the end we will become bitter and darken our own heart. But moving in forgiveness is His way and His load is light. The burden of love is like strength to our bones and health to our hearts.

So, as a believer in the Great Forgiver, who finshed His earthly work complete, I am confident He sees everything in my life and will finish the work HE began in me. God help us all be followers of the Way, the Truth and the Life.

Day 2 at the ECHO CONFERENCE

Having a blast at the ECHO CHURCH MEDIA CONFERENCE! There are a host of sponsoring ministries here that assist churches in taking their media ministry to the next level. The conference is hosted by Watermark Community Church. WCC's pastor lead pastor, Todd Wagner, shared a passionate message this morning on how special media is to this generation. His point, of as we are 'doing' the media about the love and kingdom of God we must make sure we are being God's media by living it out, was very powerful. He used a couple of videos to express certain thoughts in his message, including one intertwined with the "Leave it to Beaver" series.

Easter Sunday

Easter Sunday was a blast at Forest Park Community Church. It was a lot of work to go to the Jeffersontown Community Center in suburbia Louisville, Kentucky, but it was awesome. We started the service off with Rend the Heavens' 'Holy'. That set everything into motion. The morning set featured these songs:

A Thousand Hallelujahs by Mark Roach
He Reigns by the Newsboys
Come Thou Almighty King
Immortal, Invisible, God Only Wise
King of Glory by Third Day

During the offering we had Michaela Riggle share her testimony with us. She has raised hundreds of thousands of dollars for autism. She read in the Bible (John chapter 6) the story of Jesus feeding the 5000 with 5 barley loaves and two fish. That gave her a vision to help raise the money to buy the new medicine that would help her young autistic brother.

Our Pastor Ronnie Caswell gave a clear presentation of what the ressurection means to all of us and we concluded the ministry time with Chris Tomlin's 'The Wonderful Cross'. It was a great day to see all the Forest Park church in one building, not seperated by multiple services. Boy Forest Park could use a new buliding!

Losing.....slowly!

Well the latest wieght situation is a drop to 263 on Sunday morning, to 264 on Monday morning.....I suppose due to the El Nopalito easter celebration food I plunged into yesterday...chips and all. I honestly thought it would be worse.

This will make it difficult to hit 258 by Thursday morning.....but the attempt will be made. Oatmeal in the a.m., salads, and some sort of baked fish tonight...and maybe again, soon. Low snacks, but something that will keep the fires burning. AND the biggest one, not eating at night! And continue to work out at Ideal Fitness.

My big goal is to be down to 258 by the CIA Summit, which starts on Thursday evening. And then along with that, not go back to poor habits while I am there! I am hoping to reach that goal on Thursday morning.

Sorry to be late on this....I had a lot going on last week. Taxes to do, lots of preparation for the awsome Easter service at the Jeffersontown Community Center....and just a couple of little girls that need attention!

I also put my song 'Refuge(Pslam 62)' up on the indieheaven.com Fan Faves. Click the picture below to get there and vote for it...in the Adult Contemporary category.

Sunday service...March 16th, 2008

Just thought I would list the songs we did this past Sunday.

Here are the songs:

Hallelujah (Your Love is Amazing)by Brenton Brown/Brian Doerksen
Everlasting God by Benton Brown and Ken Riley
Here is Our King by David Crowder
Love the Lord by Lincoln Brewster
The Old Rugged Cross by George Bennard
Come Worship the King by Sonny Lallerstedt
Offering – “Cry Out to Jesus” by Third Day
What A Friend We Have in Jesus by Joseph Scriven/Charles Converse

Brewster's Love the Lord song was a new one for us. And Third Day's "Cry Out to Jesus" is a powerful song that touches many.
