Back from DownEast Maine

I just returned from DownEast Maine a couple of weeks ago. You know.... blueberries, moose and Bar Harbor. Had a blast with the whole family. The Head of the River Baptist Church flew us all up and showed how gracious the Maine people are, once again. We had the opportunity to sing at two coffeehouses and two churches on the short trip. It is always such a blessing to be with all of them. Can't wait to do it again....God willing, of course.

Here is a video of the song 'Mile of Sunshine Boulevard' captured in July while at a coffeehouse in Louisville, KY. I played with a band named Mile7. If you get a chance, check them out. They are hot in this area, up-n-coming with great hearts and music to match. Well, here is the video.....

Chris Carder Sings "Double Cure"

vid link: carder sings doublecure

This is a song by a guy name Bill Mallonee called Double Cure. I have loved this song for many years.

I saw Mallonee's group 'The Vigilantes of Love', only one time....but had followed VOL many years before.

'Double Cure' is up there on my top list of all time songs. There is a lot of passion in the lyrics and music. The struggle of walking your talk, overcoming the life of a hipocrite, being the man of God I am suppose to be....are all addressed to me in this simple but powerful song. If you get a chance, find Mallonee somewhere in concert.....maybe he will play it for you.

This video was captured on a little Sony camera at Forest Park Community Church in Jeffersontown, KY, back in July. Hope you enjoy it. Give me a shout if you do!

YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2007 when...

YOU KNOW YOU ARE LIVING IN 2007 when...

1.
You accidentally enter your PIN on the microwave.

2. You haven't played solitaire with real cards in years

3. You have a list of 15 phone numbers to reach your family of three.

4. You e-mail the person who works at the desk next to you.

5. Your reason for not staying in touch with friends and family is that
they don't have e-mail addresses.

6. You pull up in your own driveway and use your cell phone to see if
anyone is home to help you carry in the groceries.

7. Every commercial on television has a web site at the bottom of the screen.

8. Leaving the house without your cell phone, which you didn't even have
the first 20 or 30 (or 60) years of your life, is now a cause for panic and you turn around to go and get it.

10. You get up in the morning and go on line before getting your coffee.

11. You start tilting your head sideways to smile. : )

12. You're reading this and nodding and laughing (or you're not reading this and yet still nodding and laughing).

13. Even worse, you know exactly to whom you are going to send this post to.

14. You are too busy to notice there was no #9 on this list.

15. You actually scrolled back up to check that there wasn't a #9 on
this list.

16. This is actually the 16th time you've seen this list and you read it again.

17. You realize that this stopped being funny after number 3 and yet you still will read the next one.

18. See, I told you that you'd read this one (and probably the next two if you're not careful).

19. You begin tilting your head sideways to frown :-(

20. You know better but you're going to click this link and waste more time taking a very hard IQ Quiz.

21. You're going to accept a "Thank You for Visiting My Blog" note from me, and I hope you know that I really mean it,

Thanks for reading my blog today. Come back anytime.

Old Hymn used at Forest Park Community Church

This past Sunday at Forest Park Community Church we used my arrangement of 'O For a Thousand Tongues'. It was a great gift to come up with the arrangement. I remember praying that God would give me a special anointing to find some great music for a song. I had been reading through some hymns from a book my pastor let me read....after I came up with the music, I found the book opened to Charles Wesley's monumental hymn. I put the words to the music just to get a great melody....hoping to change the words later.....but the words fit so well....well....they stuck.

O For a Thousand Tongues to Sing
O for a thousand tongues to sing
my great Redeemer’s praise
The glories of my God and King,
the triumphs of His grace
Chorus:
O for a thousand tongues,
for a thousand tongues
To sing of Your great name.
O for a thousand tongues,
for a thousand tongues
To sing of Your great name.
Verse 2:
Jesus the name that calms my fears,
that bids my sorrows cease
It’s music in this sinner’s ears,
it’s life and health and peace.
Bridge:
He breaks the power of cancelled sin,
He sets the prisoner free
His blood can make the foulest clean,
His blood availed for me
For me, His blood availed for me,
His blood availed for me,
His blood availed for me

Mile of Sunshine Boulevard at Indieheaven.com

I have Mile of Sunshine Boulevard up at Indieheaven.com (IH). It would be great if you would take a few seconds and vote for the song on Indieheaven's Fan Fave page. Just click the banner below and it will take you IH's home page. Currently Mile of Sunshine Boulevard is at #3! You vote by just dragging over the stars next to the song. Click on the song and give it a listen. Then, after you have voted, click on my name (which will take you to my IH page and listen/vote for all my songs!
Mile of Sunshine Boulevard is a song of the abundant life we find in Christ! Yes, here on the earth now....and yet we greatly anticipate the time when we will be with Him in heaven! I wrote it with a dear friend, Frank French. Here are the lyrics.....

Mile of Sunshine Boulevard
Travelling down the Mile of Sunshine Boulevard
Seeing things I never dreamed I see
Comin’ round a bend, I lean into the wind,
Finding new life with every breath I breathe.

Never believed it could get any better than this,
But this is really only a glimpse
When the road is done and I’m finally home.
Well I will shout and I will sing
I will dance to the King of Kings
And I will rejoice to be travelling down
The Mile of Sunshine Boulevard.

Ya better watch on the Mile of Sunshine Boulevard,
There are those who want to take you out.
Just keep lookin’ straight ahead,
You will never be misled,
Keep lovin’ the Lord and the road He takes you down.

Me Me Me - a Chris Carder Playlist

The following collection of tunes in this playlist - are some of my own. The title doesn't really mean, "Me Me Me - it's all about Me!" But, you do kinda feel that way when posting your own tunes. Think of it as the opera singer on Bugs Bunny warming up, "me me me meeeee!"

Enjoy the tunes ... Go! (A Day in Life) is presented here followed by Thief - which is the way the songs were intended to be heard (Thus why thief is such a short song - it's a coda to Go! and really the whole album, "Too Much for Me."

CIA Summit 2007 in Franklin, Tennessee

Wow! I just spent the weekend at the CIA Summit conference in Franklin, TN. One of the best weekends I have had in a long time. The event is put on by Indieheaven.com and they sponsored the most professional conference I have ever been to as an independent artist. They had the top professionals in the fields teaching us how to get the music and message out to the world.....but it felt more like a huge family reunion with the most amazing times of worship and teachings. Keith Mohr started IH many years ago, but I have just heard of it in February and am so blessed to be a small part of it. I can not wait to get to another Summit......but I don't know how it could be any better than this years. We were led in worship on Friday morning by Bread of Stone....they were great. The day was packed with speakers and panels....then the night was topped of with a talk from Margaret Becker. Saturday the worship was led by The Dustin Burke Band and that night ended with Shaun Groves teaching us how to walk in integrity. Each night was filled with bands playing to close out the evenings....I was sorry to have to go home. What a great time.

On meeting the great Pat Day

What a blessing it was to go meet Pat Day last Saturday morning. He is internationally known for his championship horse racing for many, many years. He is the most successful jockey of all time. Pat was speaking at a prayer breakfast in Louisville, Kentucky. Afterwards, while sporting my UGA shirt I went down to give him a Trust CD and asked him for a photo. What a way to kick-off March Madness!

He is a gracious man and has a powerful testimony of how our Creator God moves. If you ever get a chance to hear him share, then make an effort to get there.

Song by Song: Wise Thing To Do

Wise Thing To Do
from: Strange and Wonderful (download here)

About this song... I came up with this song while driving home from church one night. I just started whistling the tune and when I got home wrote the chords down. The lyrics came from just the divisive world we live in which has infiltrated the church. James epistle describes the tensions between believers even in the early church. But we are also told to forgive....up to 70 X 7....and that's a lot of forgiving.

lyrics:
Wise Thing To Do

I've got my own agenda, you've got yours,
We just don't see eye to eye.
I didn't mean to cut, did not mean to hurt you,
You gotta know I hate to hear you cry.

We can leave this
We can put it all behind.
You gotta know it's the wise thing to do.
We can forgive this
And just move along,
Darling, it's the wise thing to do.

Wear your hair up, baby, put it in a tail,
I don't really mind what you do.
Sprinkle or dunk or maybe,
Burn me from above,
I'm only searching for the truth.

We can leave this
We can put it all behind.
You gotta know it's the wise thing to do.
We can forgive this,
And just move along,
Maybe it's the wise thing to do.

Didn't He tell us to love one another?
Didn't He tell us now?
Didn't He show us how?

My Top Five Favorite Artists of 2006

My top 5 music artists from last year (2006) are as follows:

1. Third Day: I really like their song on the Christmas Offerings called 'Born in Bethlehem'.

2. Leeland: what impresses me about this young band is that Leeland himself is so young and I feel a bit of Keith Green in his heart. You need to check out their Sound of Melodies project.

3. Casting Crowns: I love how the song, Lifesong' the title cut of Lifesong, was easy to use in worship when my pastor went through a series of sermons in James.

4. Mark Roach: I got the chance to use his song 'You Are' several times last year.

5. Keith Green: Since I mentioned him before....Green changed Christian music with his passion and heart for God. He changed me. Check out many of his CDs at Amazon.com.

Song by Song: You Came Along

You Came Along
from: TRUST (mp3 sample)

About this song...

You Came Along was driven by the remembrance of how life was without Christ. Things in my life were pointless, hopeless, empty. I began to get involved in a youth ministry, the year after I graduated, at First Baptist Church of Smyrna, GA. I saw a committment to God and each other I have yet to see again in a youth group. As I look back on it, I remember that Jesus said 'They will know Me by your love." I gave my likfe to Jesus in the Spring while the youth had a one night revival at a local church. I got saved, born again, or whatever you may want to call it. I exchanged a pointless life for one with direction. Jesus lifted the weight I carried and freed me. I will not forget that day.

You Came Along reflects that moment in a person's life when they surrender to The Creator! If you get a chance request the song for me down below. I would really...really appreciate it. God bless.

lyrics:
Thought I was fine and I knew all the answers
Sure that I was doing everything right
You came and opened my eyes to a different light

Just like a fool taking all things for granted
Living my life thinking I had it all
Didn’t know I was so wrong till I heard You call

You came along and You wanted to save me
It was all wrong but You made it all right
Gave me a hope that I needed but never had known
Didn’t know love until You came along

I was a ship in a storm on the ocean
Lost and not knowing which way I should go
You shined Your light in the dark and then led me home.

Search Me, O God... Psalm 139 an old school song

LogoLogoLogoLogoLogoLogoLogoLogoLogoLogoLogoLogoLogoLogoLogo

Psalm 139:23-24

- - - - - - - - - - - - -
23 Search me, O God, and know my heart!
Try me and know my thoughts! [3]
24 And see if there be any grievous way in me,
and lead me in the way everlasting! [4] [psalm 139 esv]
- - - - - - - - - - - - -
Pslam 139... as stated before, is one of my favorites. David has spilled his guts before the Lord and then tells God how he 'hates' those who hate God...Here it these last two verses of this chapter he reaches inside once more and asked God to search him.....because King David knows that our heart is deceptively evil. His own heart. I can relate to him here. How can I praise God with my voice and later on damage others with the same tongue, the same heart. So, examine me Doctor Jesus and heal me as well! Seems pretty appropriate here on Valentine's Day. But please no massacre.
