Song by Song: Wise Thing To Do

Wise Thing To Do
from: Strange and Wonderful (download here)

About this song... I came up with this song while driving home from church one night. I just started whistling the tune and when I got home wrote the chords down. The lyrics came from just the divisive world we live in which has infiltrated the church. James epistle describes the tensions between believers even in the early church. But we are also told to forgive....up to 70 X 7....and that's a lot of forgiving.

lyrics:
Wise Thing To Do

I've got my own agenda, you've got yours,
We just don't see eye to eye.
I didn't mean to cut, did not mean to hurt you,
You gotta know I hate to hear you cry.

We can leave this
We can put it all behind.
You gotta know it's the wise thing to do.
We can forgive this
And just move along,
Darling, it's the wise thing to do.

Wear your hair up, baby, put it in a tail,
I don't really mind what you do.
Sprinkle or dunk or maybe,
Burn me from above,
I'm only searching for the truth.

We can leave this
We can put it all behind.
You gotta know it's the wise thing to do.
We can forgive this,
And just move along,
Maybe it's the wise thing to do.

Didn't He tell us to love one another?
Didn't He tell us now?
Didn't He show us how?

Song by Song: You Came Along

You Came Along
from: TRUST (mp3 sample)

About this song...

You Came Along was driven by the remembrance of how life was without Christ. Things in my life were pointless, hopeless, empty. I began to get involved in a youth ministry, the year after I graduated, at First Baptist Church of Smyrna, GA. I saw a committment to God and each other I have yet to see again in a youth group. As I look back on it, I remember that Jesus said 'They will know Me by your love." I gave my likfe to Jesus in the Spring while the youth had a one night revival at a local church. I got saved, born again, or whatever you may want to call it. I exchanged a pointless life for one with direction. Jesus lifted the weight I carried and freed me. I will not forget that day.

You Came Along reflects that moment in a person's life when they surrender to The Creator! If you get a chance request the song for me down below. I would really...really appreciate it. God bless.

lyrics:
Thought I was fine and I knew all the answers
Sure that I was doing everything right
You came and opened my eyes to a different light

Just like a fool taking all things for granted
Living my life thinking I had it all
Didn’t know I was so wrong till I heard You call

You came along and You wanted to save me
It was all wrong but You made it all right
Gave me a hope that I needed but never had known
Didn’t know love until You came along

I was a ship in a storm on the ocean
Lost and not knowing which way I should go
You shined Your light in the dark and then led me home.

Song by Song: Never Let You Go

Never Let You Go
from: Strange and Wonderful (download here)

About this song...I had back surgery and had some pretty serious complications. While recuperating in the hospital a buddy, Mac Powell, brought me a mandolin. He did not know how to tune it and neither did I, but another friend came in, Sonny Lallerstedt, and he can tune anything by ear. I have known Sonny since he was part of The Pat Terry Group. He was glad to tune it and I ended up in the hospital for like 21 days. While I was there I learned to play the mandolin and wrote the song before I went home. Crazy that I wrote it on the mandolin and it ended up being the hottest song on the CD. That, of course, is due to the amazing guitar work of Kip Bell, who at the time was lead guitarist for Rocketboy. So, there is a little history of Never Let You Go. A tale of redemption and God's faithfulness.

lyrics:

Never Let You Go

I was lookin' for a reason to live.
I was empty from all life had to give.
The Word of God came and got a hold of me,
And would not let me go.

I was hungry for some peace of mind.
Tired of feeling so burdened and blind.
The Word of God came and got a hold of me,
And would not let me go.

When the Word of God gets hold of you,
Takes control of you, won't let go of you,
He'll never let you go.
Jesus said to believe
And that He would never leave you alone,
He'll never, never let you go.

I was a sinner, I had Hell to pay.
Just like you I knew I could never get away.
The Word of God came and got a hold of me,
Would not let me go.
