'Trust' off to Disc Makers

The masters are off, the initial work is done.....now for the waiting prior to birth. I am an independent musician, meaning I have no major label....not label at all other than my own, Too Much Records, to get me out into the known world.

So, as an Indie, I have found a company who has a history of helping the Indies of this world get their product out.... Disc Makers. I just mailed all my stuff to them today and should recieve the new project on or before July 20th.

I am pretty excited and hope many of you will begin to order 'Trust' from me. I sincerely do believe it will encourage and lift you up.

New Album Cover

Well, I finally have decided on the title of the new project and the basics of the cover art. The title is gonna be called 'Trust' the 4th song on the CD. Trust is a really powerful song about the powerful love of the Father depicted in the parable of the prodigal son found in Luke 15:11-32.

On the cover I wanted to put a picture of a great friend of mine who was killed back in July 19, 2000. His name was Shane Britton and he was a Deputy Sheriff for Cass County, Michigan. He was killed in a single car accident while responding to an assistance call on State Route 62 when his cruiser left the roadway and struck a tree. Shane and his family were missionaries for New Tribes Missions in the 70s. The photo that will be on my CD was taken by (most likely) his dad, Jim Britton, when Shane was about 31/2 years old.

The photo makes me think this is how I should trust the Lord: Full-tilt, all out, no way back... or, in other words....with all my heart as Psalms 3:5 presses us all to do. The Brittons have been lifelong missionaries and are now serving with Pioneers, stationed in Orlando, Florida.

Old School Songs: psalm 139 : darkness is not dark to you

darkness

Psalm 139

7 Where shall I go from your Spirit?
Or where shall I flee from your presence?

8 If I ascend to heaven, you are there!
If I make my bed in Sheol, you are there!

9 If I take the wings of the morning
and dwell in the uttermost parts of the sea,

10 even there your hand shall lead me,
and your right hand shall hold me.

11 If I say, “Surely the darkness shall cover me,
and the light about me be night,”

12 even the darkness is not dark to you;
the night is bright as the day,
for darkness is as light with you. (the rest)

The words of this portion of Psalm 139 are incredibly comforting to me. Because there is nowhere I can go where I am not covered by His presence.

I spent three summers in Indonesia as a short-term missionary. We were centralized in a city called Manado. Indonesia is a country of about 13,000+ Islands. One morning we drove about two hours to the coast and then took a little boat to a small island to join in a church service. I am not sure of the name of this island but it was really more like a mountain in the sea. We had to climb all the way up to the top ofthis massive hill. We were miserably hot and sweaty and tired by the time (like 4-5 hours) we got to the tiny church building. It probably seated like 40 people. But in the little benches there were hymnals, in Indonesian launguage, of course.

I grew up in Atlanta, Georgia and if you could shove a stick through the earth, you would have a great chance of hitting this little island. When it was midnight in Manado it was noon in Atlanta. We were exactly half a day ahead of my home town.

I could not help but think that we are in this tiny church on this tiny island and God has been here! And He has worshipers here! He is everywhere. And when He saw us at noon in this tiny church, He could see everything in Atlanta where it was midnight.

Worship

As a musician I can readily get wrapped up in thinking that worship is singing to the Lord. And though that is definitely a wonderful avenue to worship the God of creation there is so much more to worship than that. I consider singing to God, truths about Him and/or what He has done for us, as praise. Praise, whether individually or in a corporate setting is only part of worship. I have learned that worship encompasses everything I am suppose to do for Christ. When I put my neighbor before myself, I am worshiping my Savior. When I am trying to overcome the temptation that so easily besets me I am worshiping Him. If I seek His smile through His awesome Word, I am worshiping Him. I am suppose to be a living sacrifice following and obeying the One who created me. That is acceptable worship. When I sing at church it doesn't mean I am worshiping...though that is my goal. I must be thinking on and pondering my Master, not just giving 'lip service'. If I can enter His courts with praise I feel it will enable others to drop down their safety nets and likewise respond in truth to praise the God who created them as well. I rarely get to just be in the audience and leave all the 'duties' of leading a group in praise...so it is always a blessing when I can attend a Third Day, David Crowder or Salvador concert. Then I am not pondering chord charts and playing, but just letting myself become fully devoted to singing out truth to my God.

Does anyone have some thoughts on the subject of Praise and/or Worship? I would love to hear them. God bless you as we worship Him together.

missing links, The Last Post, Help Me Jesus, Myspace,

In the last post about top 10 songs it seems the link to Help Me Jesus didn't work, so:

Then, in my post on myspace - forgot to mention the little point that icerocket searches myspace - but you cannot seem to find chris carder - but instead chriscarder??? also, chris carder louisville kentucky - not there, nor chris carder smyrna georgia ... nope. How about "musician by trade"? Wait a sec, chriscarder louisville, kentucky - and - chriscarder smyrna georgia - hmmm, works sorta... maybe I just need to put the words, "Chris Carder," all over the myspace page... anyway, you can search for music and more on myspace with icerocket. If you haven't used icerocket - the web search is cool too!

Simpli Search finds Carder and again stop by myspace and say hello or something :-)

Blogmarks is pretty awesome as well.

Haven't done much with myspace just yet ... still take a sec and stop by (so far no purple background, no glittery images, no dancing chris gif, etc. - but ya never know)...

Icerocket not only searches blogs: like A Day in Life (by yours truly) but also myspace (btw, there's more if you blog search chris carder on icerocket). Seems the chris carder music podcast is out there on broadsnatch

anyway, stop by and leave me a note if u r a myspacer... and while you're there notice the awesome new project opus player from project opus - which will soon be appearing on this blog as well... very soon :-)...
